About the Artist
Adelle Teagle (she/her) is a queer oil painter and illustrator living and creating on Wurundjeri land (Melbourne, Australia). Her portraiture tends towards restrained, monochromatic palettes, often abstaining from colour altogether.
Teagle mostly draws inspiration from her personal experiences. Though she also explores topics that evoke deeply emotional responses, such as deep dives into complex, often dark or melancholic philosophical/historical subjects and art. Despite the topics, her works seek to find the beauty in the dark and melancholy, themes that people tend to avoid.
The artistβs works display her more intimate, hard-to-verbalise thoughts and feelings. This process is a way for the artist to confront herself in an almost interrogative-like setting. As a woman with late-diagnosed ADHD, she explained it was always a challenge to make sense of the intense emotions that typically come with the condition. Teagle aims to better understand her complex responses to experiences with the aid of her paints.
